Youth Empowerment
Rohingya Empowerment Community’s youth empowerment programs create safe and supportive spaces where young people can develop leadership skills, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging. Youth are actively involved in planning program activities and scheduling, which helps them develop leadership, engagement, and problem-solving skills. Through weekly meetings, participants discuss upcoming activities, share ideas, and suggest adjustments to programs, giving them a meaningful voice in shaping the initiatives that serve them. Through mentorship, group activities, and community engagement, youth are encouraged to express themselves, support one another, and become active leaders within their community while navigating the challenges of growing up in a new country.
Our organization also offers several Youth Empowerment Initiatives, including an ongoing program titled “Know Your Identity Through Your Culture” (KYITYC), which serves youth ages 8 to 18 and currently engages 30 participants with 100% attendance. This program helps Rohingya youth understand their roots, cultural heritage, and sense of belonging. Many participating children were born in different countries and exposed to multiple cultures, which can lead to feelings of confusion or disconnection from their identity. Through KYITYC, youth learn about Rohingya history, traditions, and cultural values, helping them develop pride in their identity and a stronger sense of belonging. Programs like KYITYC play an important role in preserving Rohingya culture across generations while supporting the emotional well-being and identity development of Rohingya youth in the diaspora.
